Simca1000 - 1961-1978
In 1962-simca, the second-largest french automaker, introduced the 1000, a small, squarish but cheap sedan that quickly became the top-selling french export. When it reached the United States in 1963, motor sport illustrated called it one of the most drivable cars to come down the pike in a long time. the .number produced by 1978 exceeded 1.6 million.

Small but roomy
the simca 1000 was the last rear-engine, rear-drive french car, its small 944cc, four-cylinder engine situated behind the rear axle.
