Bugatti Tite 30 - 1922-1926
Bugattis first eight-cylinder passenger car was the type 28 of 1921, but it never progressed any further than the prototype. His first eight to go into series production was the type 30, introduced in 1922. However, the first real showing of the type 30 was at the french grand prix in strasbourg, when four cigar-shaped type 30 prototypes started the race. Two of the cars finished second and third, behind nazarros winning fiat.

front-wheel brakes were *used for the first time on a production bugatti; They were hydraulically operated using a glycerine fluid. When they worked, they were said to work well, though they were eventually replaced by cable-operated brakes which had always been employed on the rear-wheels.

in may 1923, a team of five specially modified type 30s was entered in the indianapolis 500. They were fitted with single-seat bodywork designed on aerodynamic lines by m. Rechereau, whose previous credits included the world war i spad biplane. Only one car finished the race.
with a three-bearing crank, the type 30 was fragile, but also powerful and lively. Its successor, the 1926 type 30, was not in the same league.
The first production bugatti straight-eight, the type 30 was often fitted with elegant cbachwork.
