Bugatti 35b - 1926-1930
One of the most desirable of collectors cars is the bugatti type 35, which for a time dominated european racing. Of the 210 produced, 37 were 35bs, the fastest and most powerful form of the type 35. It was well-suited for sports-car racing by amateurs as well as for competition on the grand prix circuit

the eight-cylinder 35 engine was expanded to 2.3 litres in the 35t with a longer stroke. When this engine was supercharged, the model became the 35b. It received a larger radiator to deal with the additional heating created by the supercharging. The 35b also had larger brake drums and wider wheel rims to receive fatter tires. The body, tapered front and rear, remained the same.

introduced at the 1926 paris show, the 35b had little scope for its talents in 1927 because grand prix competition was limited to engines of no more than 1.5 litres. In 1928, however, a 35b won the targa florio, and louis chiron won races at reims, rome, monza and san sebastian in his private 35b. The following year, walter
grover-williams won the french grand prix and the first monaco grand prix in a 35b. Driving a 35b, rene dreyfus won the 1930 monaco race. The model then made way for bugattis new type 51.
